Thigmotaxis is about looking for contact in the world. It celebrates the first journey that we made—our birth from the little to the big. Here is the rollercoaster of human experience from gentle attraction to ecstatic union, from expulsion and near death to liberating birth. The author tells this extraordinary story—inspired by Stanislav Grof's Realms of the Human Unconscious—by taking snapshots of the everyday world and arranging them by meaning into nine sections. They were written over a three-year period directly into journals, the text taking turns to be poetic and experimental, hard-nosed and explicit, erotic and obscure. They chart a strange and intense time of emerging into the world.
